Hello!
My name is Megan Johnson Walter and I am a school psychologist for Minneapolis Public Schools. I use she/her/hers pronouns. Before becoming a school psychologist, I managed an after school child program - similar to Minneapolis Kids or Beacons!
I wanted to be a school psychologist because I wanted to know how to best educate our youth both academically, physically, emotionally and mentally. Ta-da! School psychologists have all the training in these areas. Despite what automatically pops up in your brain from reading "psychologist", I do not hold therapy sessions with students or diagnose mental health disorders. On a normal day you can usually find me consulting with teachers about how to best serve students in the classroom, providing supports to students to help them thrive at school, or advocating for students and families within the IEP process.
