Administration Team
Dear NSJ Families,
I am honored and excited to begin my fourth year here as the Principal of Nellie Stone Johnson. It will be my privilege to serve the students here at NSJ. I started my educational journey over 30 years ago in Minneapolis Public Schools right on the northside and I am truly thrilled to return.
I would like to take this time to welcome All families to NSJ. I welcome our returning families and our families who are new to the school. I am so glad you are here! The entire NSJ staff is looking forward to an awesome school year, working with you to ensure all of our students will achieve and believe in reaching their highest potential.
I look forward to building a strong school-family connection with the students, staff and families of NSJ. You have entrusted us with your most precious possession, your child and I do not take that lightly. We want to partner with you in this work. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities and you can help us with this partnership by making sure your child is at school and ready to learn. Also, listed below are a few things that will help your child have a successful school year.
• Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
• Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
• Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
• Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
• Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
It is going to be another fantastic year of learning at NSJ! As always, thank you for all you do to support your child's education.
Sincerely,
Kelly Wright
Principal
Dear NSJ Parents and Students,
My name is Charles Luter and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Nellie Stone Johnson Elementary School. I am both humbled and honored to have been selected to serve such an amazing and talented group of students as well as support the staff in providing a high-quality education to your scholar. Over the past 16 years of working for Minneapolis Public Schools, I have served as a Special Education Assistant, Behavior Dean, Athletic Director, Transportation Coordinator, After-School lead Special Education Teacher and Teacher on Special Assignment. The knowledge that I’ve gained from these experiences has not only shaped me into the person that I am, but also the way I interact with students and their families.
I am looking forward to the work that we will do together! Yes…together, as your insight and support will be key in your scholar working hard to reach his/her potential. Collectively, we can ensure the success of every student at Nellie Stone Johnson! I am committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, welcomed and respected while taking advantage of the opportunities to learn to the best of their abilities.
As another school year quickly approaches, you may have questions or concerns. Do not hesitate to reach out as we are already working hard to prepare for a successful start to the school year with the safety and wellbeing of the scholars and staff as the top priority.
Again, I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve such a wonderful and amazing community. I am looking forward to meeting our scholars and their families personally and start building a collaborative relationship with our scholars at the center!
Sincerely,
Charles L. Luter
